Audrey Bell-Kearney is the owner of The Sister Inc. Network and Black Diamond Media Group. She always wanted to own her own business. Although English was not her favorite subject while she was in school, she has a great love for books.
In 1998 she co-authored The Cookbook To Romance with two friends. After the book was published, she knew that she wanted to continue in the publishing field. Mrs. Kearney knew that starting a business would be hard, but after careful research, she decided that she could do it.
She resigned from her job at Verizon Phone Company and took on a paper route getting up at 3:30 am in the morning to make her deliveries of the daily paper to homes in her area. She would be finished with her deliveries around 5am. She would then go home lay down until time to get her daughter Dominique ready for school. After she took her daughter to school, she would come back home and start her day off researching her business idea and attending networking events. Although this was a grueling process, Mrs. Kearney was determined to do what she wanted to do, which was start her own business. After being bankrupt and without health benefits for about a year, Mrs. Kearneys’ daughter got sick and had to go to the ER. Mrs. Kearney decided to get medical assistance from Welfare to make sure that she and her daughter had medical coverage.
Mrs. Kearney does not suggest that you quit your job to start a business, but her dislike with her job and her desire to be a business owner led her that way. It has not been easy, but it is a labor of love for her.
Mrs. Kearney has written 4 books. The ABC’s Of Self-Publishing, Success Is A Matter Of Choice & A Mustard Seed Of Faith, How To Become A 6 Figure Sister and her latest The Sister Inc. Blueprint For Starting And Running A Successful Business. Her newest project is her documentary film “RISE”: An Entrepreneurs Journey To The Top.
Sister Inc. is dedicated to helping women who have started their own business and those looking to start their own business. In addition to running her own business Mrs. Kearney is currently a consultant for Kean University Small Business Development Center.
Mrs. Kearney’s advice to entrepreneurs is simply this: “Do you what you love. Plan, research and plan some more. Surround yourself with positive people and enhance your business skills. You will have to take risks if you plan on being a business owner just make sure that they are risks that will help you move your business forward.
